When Will My Hotel FF&E Arrive?
All successful hotel new construction and renovation projects begin with a well-thought-out plan. The critical path to building an efficient plan is understanding product lead times – how long a product will take to ship after placing a purchase order – and which related factors influence the timeline one way or another. FF&E lead times will vary based on product category and whether it is sourced in North America or overseas, custom or part of a manufacturer’s “running line,” and other variables.
Without proper awareness and allowances when ordering FF&E and planning a hotel project schedule, all of the factors above can have a dramatic impact and result in lost time and money.
Current Lead Times for Hotel FF&E Products
Included here are average lead times for prototypical products. Custom products often have longer lead times.
In addition, the below lead time estimates do not incorporate shop drawing reviews and approvals, fabric approvals, and specific situations that must be factored in based on the product. Adding these steps would cause product to arrive later than the lead times below indicate.
Here at Innvision, we share lead time estimates with all of our clients and their general contractors in the earliest stages of a project. Together, we build a delivery schedule that aligns with the GC’s construction timeline. Innvision has spent years building relationships with trusted hospitality FF&E manufacturers, which allow us to obtain accurate lead time information with confidence. Collaborating and communicating with all team members early and often enables us to stay aligned with our clients and their GCs to prevent common but avoidable scheduling pitfalls.
