As warmer weather approaches, hotel guests will increasingly want to spend time outside. Now is the time for hoteliers to begin their outdoor space preparations. Innvision offers several specific recommendations below to ensure that your outdoor spaces will be up to the task when guests want to enjoy them.

Optimal Timing for Preparation

The local seasons and temperatures usually determine when a hotelier should begin preparing for guests to enjoy hotel outdoor spaces. Ideally, you’ll want them to be guest-ready approximately one month before your region's last expected frost date. For example, in the southeastern United States, outdoor spaces should be ready by mid-March, anticipating the last frost to be no later than April 15th.

During the colder months, we recommend covering or even storing your outdoor furniture. Storing outdoor cushions is a must to protect and preserve their appearance and functionality. For areas with fire pits that guests can enjoy year-round, use dedicated weather-resistant seating that is rugged enough to withstand the elements season after season.

Essential Maintenance Tasks

Regular maintenance helps ensure that outdoor spaces remain inviting and functional:

  • Conduct furniture inspections monthly and after periods of high usage
  • Look for signs of wear and tear, including fading and cushion condition
  • Regular cleaning of furniture surfaces to prevent dust and dirt accumulation
  • Choose seasonally appropriate container plants for year-round appeal
  • Select low-maintenance or drought-resistant plants for a lush look with minimal care

Quality Outdoor Furniture Selection

You may find that your outdoor seating and tables are past their prime and in need of replacement. When it is time to select outdoor furniture that will provide longevity and performance, we suggest that you look for these key features:

  • Commercial-grade furniture rated for outdoor use
  • Reticulated foam cushions for quick-dry functionality
  • Faux resin wicker over natural wicker/rattan for durability and low maintenance
  • Powder-coated aluminum components for rust resistance
  • Outdoor-rated fabrics with UV resistance and easy cleanability for cushions and umbrellas

At Innvision, we help hoteliers transform their outdoor spaces into inviting guest destinations. Our experienced team understands the importance of durable, weather-resistant furnishings and can guide you in selecting the right pieces for your climate and guest needs. For optimal results, we recommend beginning your outdoor furniture planning eight to ten months before your peak season to ensure timely delivery and installation.
