HD Expo 2018 Takeaways - Innvision HospitalityPhoto source: HD Expo Digital Press Room

With over 17,500 attendees this year alone, it’s no surprise the annual HD Expo (held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas) is the industry’s leading hospitality design conference and trade show.

The three-day event invites the entire design community to come together to experience in-depth presentations, product introductions, and networking opportunities.

This year, a handful of new products stood out among the rest:

Custom-Printed Laminate

Durability is a must for guest room furniture, and laminate surfaces continue to be a popular option for hoteliers. One of Innvision’s own suppliers, JTB Furniture, showcased a breakthrough line of custom laminate offerings.

Our takeaway: Custom-printed laminate can readily meet any guest room furniture needs, no matter how specific. We believe custom laminates are not unlike 3D printing, as they offer a new world of possibilities for case goods.

Enhanced Resilient Title (ERT)

The quest for a quiet hotel room is an unspoken requirement for modern guests, and that includes flooring. ERT is Durkan’s take on luxury vinyl tile, and their latest collection certainly delivers a heightened guest room experience.

Our takeaway: The hospitality industry has been making noise about noisy LVT flooring for a few years now, and Durkan just ushered us into silent mode. We can’t wait to see the sound abatement material in action, with its durability, quality design, and noise control through a state-of-the-art pad attachment.

Custom Carpeting

Natural elements and biophilic design influences are making waves in the hospitality carpet industry. Lexmark + Hospitality showcased a first look at the stylish patterns in their newest running lines; Alchemy and Luna give neutral hues an unexpected edge of sophistication.

Our takeaway: Lexmark wowed with a comprehensive collection of product designs initially tested with Innvision before launching on a national scale.

While the flooring and furniture introductions were our favorite additions, we saw a great deal of innovation in all areas of hospitality design. As a result, we left Las Vegas with a renewed vision on the products and design concepts available for hoteliers in 2018.
